Case study 1
Applying to Canadian Universities (Life Sciences Program)
Student Profile:
Emily, a Grade 12 student in Vaughan, aimed to study Life Sciences at top Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto, McMaster, and UBC.
Counselling Approach:
We began by refining Emily’s university list based on her interests in biology, health sciences, and research opportunities. We then supported her in crafting strong Personal Profile responses for UBC and detailed supplementary applications for U of T and McMaster. Her application highlighted her work volunteering at a local hospital and conducting a science fair project on antibiotic resistance. We also provided guidance on reference letters (UBC requirement) and aligning her high school courses with competitive program requirements.
Outcome:
Emily received offers from all three universities and accepted admission to the University of Toronto's Life Sciences program.
Student Profile:
Daniel, a Grade 12 student in Toronto, was passionate about global affairs, economics, and entrepreneurship. He aimed to apply to interdisciplinary business and social science programs at top U.S. universities such as the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Georgetown U, NYU (Stern), and UC SanDiego.
Counselling Approach:
We worked with Daniel to develop a well-rounded application strategy that aligned his academic interests with the unique strengths of each university. His Common App personal statement reflected his experience launching a community entrepreneurship initiative and his insights from participating in the UPenn Wharton Investment Competition. We also helped him craft compelling supplemental essays that highlighted his leadership in Model United Nations (MUN) and his role as editor of the school economics journal.
Each university’s application required a tailored approach: we guided Daniel through early decision plans, test-optional strategies, and securing strong recommendation letters from both social science and business teachers. He also received coaching for virtual interviews and support in creating an activity list that showcased his academic rigor and civic engagement.
Outcome:
Daniel was admitted to multiple top-tier U.S. universities and ultimately chose to attend NYU Stern School of Business, drawn to its global business curriculum and access to internship opportunities in New York City.

Case study 3
Applying to UK Universities (Psychology Program)
Student Profile:
Hannah, a student in Grade 12 at a private school in Ottawa, wanted to pursue Psychology at UK universities, including King’s College London, University of Edinburgh, and University of Birmingham.
Counselling Approach:
Since UK admissions emphasize academics and subject interest, we supported Hannah in preparing a focused UCAS personal statement that highlighted her research into cognitive development, participation in a local psychology club, and internship at a mental health clinic. We ensured her predicted grades aligned with program requirements and guided her on school reference coordination and UCAS submission strategy.
Outcome:
Hannah received offers from all her chosen universities and selected King’s College London for its clinical psychology research focus.
Student Profile:
Liam, a Grade 12 student attending high school in Markham, had a deep interest in design and environmental sustainability. He aimed to study Architecture at leading Australian institutions such as the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Counselling Approach:
We introduced Liam to Australia’s world-renowned architecture programs and the benefits of studying abroad, such as globally recognized degrees and innovative studio-based learning. We guided him through the UAC and VTAC application systems, advised him on selecting the right stream (Design vs. Architecture), and supported him in preparing a competitive application.
A major focus was portfolio development. We worked closely with Liam to curate a compelling portfolio showcasing his architectural sketches, digital models, photography, and a self-initiated design project focused on sustainable housing. We also helped him write a clear and thoughtful statement of intent that conveyed his passion for urban design and environmental impact.
In addition, we advised his family on credit transfer options, housing, student visa applications, and key deadlines across Australian states.
Outcome:
Liam received offers from both UNSW and the University of Sydney. He ultimately chose University of Sydney, attracted by its strong architectural faculty and global outlook.
